The problem is as old as Moses, and you can read all about what Jethro said to Moses about solving his stress load in Exodus 18. He had to learn how to delegate. Pastors continue to burn out because they refuse to develop leaders and delegate responsibilities to these leaders.So what is the simple process of delegation?

Steps to Proper Delegation:

1) ASSIGN:

  • Written Job Descriptions are helpful. It is important for the person to participate in the job description authorship.

2) MOTIVATE:

  • Encourage and support the person. Back him or her up when the going gets rough. Challenge them to valiant effort.

3) MONITOR:

  • Time frame and completion date. Written or oral report. Observe the person, and give feedback on performance.
