Ongoing Leadership Development
Why are you developing leaders?
What are your leadership develop plans? Hope for developing leaders is not a plan.
There is not a church on the planet that would not want more and better leaders to run the ministry. Yet, often the church thinks about leadership development because more leaders are needed. There are gaps that need to be filled!
But developing a leadership development environment is not for the purpose of filling positions. If all the positions are filled, I would argue that the church still needs to equip more leaders. I have seen that when I equip leaders, the ministry fills out under those leaders. If I launch a leader with a couple of people, before long they will have 10 to 12 in their group.
Great organizations understand the importance of ongoing leadership development so that there are potential leaders stacked up like cords of wood, ready to step up when the need for leadership arises.
I’m committed to ongoing, on the job leadership development because we will never have enough leaders until we make disciples to the ends of the earth. I am on the hunt for those who are hungry and desiring to fulfill their calling from God.
I’m driven to equip because of the potential capacity I see for expanding God’s kingdom.
I don’t recruit people to fill vacant positions, I develop people who have a heart for ministry and help them to engage ministries that reflect their passions. I want to be a hero maker, setting people up for success at what God has called them to do with their lives. This is why we start with the person who needs to be developed.
Ask:
What is your passion
What are your strengths
What are your dreams?
How can I help you fulfill what God has put on your heart?
I am eager to come alongside potential leaders to celebrate the baby steps of their growth on the leadership development pathway and anticipate assigning greater responsibilities after the demonstration of being faithful in little.
The bigger my dream, the bigger my team. If I don’t see the need for more leaders, then I need to reconsider if I have a big enough vision that reflects the greatness of God.
People are never more happy than when they know that they are fulfilling what God created them to do. My joy is in equipping and developing them to maximize their God given potential.
